Cannabis States of America

In the United States of America, weed is a very popular topic. The topic is either being cherished by those who love the drug, ridiculed by those who don't like it, or debated among a mixed group of people. Some people feel that marijuana should be legal and others completely disagree.

Cannabis States of America

Regardless of what some people may think, it hasn't stopped twenty states and the District of Columbia from making medical marijuana legal. There must be a reason that all of these states, and most likely more in the future want weed to be legal. In fact, making weed legal is a very positive thing. There are many reasons why making weed legal has served to be extremely positive for the states that have already done so.
First of all, there are many law abiding citizens who are spending a lot of time in prison due to getting caught with a little bit of weed. Weed does not cause anyone to be a huge threat to the public. Many people who feel a lot of pain enjoy weed because it helps them to relax and not be in as much pain. In some of the worst case scenarios, people have had to spend a decade in prison for getting caught with weed.

Prison for Cannabis :(

This should never be the case. There are much worst reasons to be in prison. The states that have legalized marijuana have the right idea. Save the space in prisons for the people who actually deserve to be there.
If marijuana is really hurting people, don't people have the right to do something that may be harmful to them if they enjoy it? People overeat all the time, which can lead to obesity, and ultimately lead to an early death. However, the government does not have the right to tell people how much they can or cannot eat. Whether there is a law that says a person can or cannot do something, if they want to do it bad enough they will find a way. Legalizing weed gives everyone a break.

Most people who support weed don't even consider it to be a drug and are strongly against the use of other drugs that are truly harmful to people. Many folks feel that weed makes them happy and can't see life without it.

From the results that have been gathered from the states that have legalized marijuana, we can conclude at least one thing. Perhaps, weed really does make the world a happier place and those that don't agree are simply too close minded to give it a try.

Texas Gov. Signs Cannabis Bill

Texas Gov. Greg Abbott signed the Senate bill 339 into law on June 1, 2015 that allows individuals who suffer from a drug resistant form of epilepsy to consume low doses of cannabis oil to reduce their seizures.

The Senate Bill 339 required that the Texas Department of Public Safety had to license at least three dispensing organizations by September 1, 2017; with the condition that at least that many patients have met the state’s requirements. According to the author of the bill, dispensaries need to function similar to compounding pharmacies. Only a neurologist or epileptologist has the authority to prescribe CBD oil.

Epilepsy Victims have Hope

The condition called intractable epilepsy affects one-third of all individuals suffering with epilepsy. There is currently no medication that completely cures intractable epilepsy and many patients have had little to absolutely no recovery with the currently approved drugs.

The prescribed medicines do not work well to control the seizures of the patients but the cannabis oil has proven some rate of success with this specific brain disorder. The oils containing cannabidiol that is a non-euphoric component of marijuana extract shows promise in treating intractable epilepsy.

Intractable epilepsy plagues an estimated 149,000 people in Texas, especially children, and agonizing patients can suffer hundreds of seizures per week. The signing of the bill now provides hope and healing for patients that are afflicted by painful and pernicious seizures caused by epilepsy.

The new approved medication will be a regulated substance that the state dispenses to epilepsy patients who have not reciprocated positively to existing federally approved prescription medications. Delta-9-Tetrahydrocannabinol is the compound extracted from the plants in a low-dose form to help control intractable epilepsy without giving a kick of the drug to the patients.

The Governor Knows What's Best

Reports indicate that the new Texas Compassionate Use Act that allows the use of medicinal CBD has the potential to help thousands of people currently suffering from epilepsy.
